Celebrating Freedom

Today we celebrate the 64 th anniversary of the day our country became independent.The day our forefathers dreams came true.The day of hope.The day every Indian was liberated from slavery and held his head high with pride ,honor and dignity.The defining moment in the history of India and the world.The day ,also remembered for the most inspirational speech in the history.The speech of Jawaharlal Nehru.

I had a chance to get to read the speech (courtesy THE HINDU) and it was indeed the best ever.
And it goes on like this

"...At the stroke of midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, then an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment we take the pledge of dedication to India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity.

At the dawn of history India started on her unending quest, and trackless centuries are filled with her striving and the grandeur of her successes and her failures. Through good and ill fortune alike she has never lost sight of that quest or forgotten the ideals which gave her strength. We end today a period of ill fortune and India discovers herself again.

The achievement we celebrate today is but a step, an opening of opportunity, to the greater triumphs and achievements that await us. Are we brave enough and wise enough to grasp this opportunity and accept the challenge of the future?

Freedom and power bring responsibility. That responsibility rests upon this assembly, a sovereign body representing the sovereign people of India. Before the birth of freedom we have endured all the pains of labour and our hearts are heavy with the memory of this sorrow. Some of those pains continue even now.

Nevertheless, the past is over and it is the future that beckons to us now.

That future is not one of ease or resting but of incessant striving so that we might fulfill the pledges we have so often taken and the one we shall take today....."


Its been 63 years since the great man uttered these words.63 troubled years when we've been exploited ,we've been hijacked,we've been raided,mobbed whatever, but we still managed to keep up the unity and the spirit.
Now its our time- to lead,to outshine the world,to make those pledges true.....and so shall we!!!!!

Proud to be from the greatest country ever!!!!

HOW IT ALL STARTED

Hi everyone

Its fun to get started with blogging and all .I've been planning to get started since the time i first had a net connetion at home.I always felt I was good at writing stuff. So I thought i would start a blog. But then I couldnt figure out what to write....err...type .So i generally gave up.But then blogs started becoming popular and I seriously started thinking about what to write (again type).

This seemed pretty hard and my thoughts went on like this .......
Preperation for JEE?Nah!!.....There are millions.
Life at IIT? Zillions.
Cricket?....Whats Peter Roebuck for?
Politics?.......Oh god!Am i so desperate?

Then a friend of mine......A blogging god...told me to start off with one and decide the topics later.Great Idea. I did so .And there was a new problem. What do i name it?

Maybe i should have my name in it

I then realized blogging is not for me.Its for people with lots of free time and nothing better to do.So i decided to stop trying...........forever.

But then,as this is my first post,i must have tried again.
You know what made it happen?
